It's probably safe to say that among technology installations,
none are so fraught with pain and change as an ERP (enterprise
resource planning) installation. The reason: a new ERP system
doesn't just change one company department or division - it
changes the entire company. People are resistant to change,
and you've undoubtedly heard stories of difficult transitions
with installations, document management, warehouse management,
and the like. None of these, though, so completely changes a
